India’s tally of coronavirus infections surged to nearly 3.7 million on Tuesday, according to the health ministry update in the morning. India, the world’s third most affected country by the pandemic after the United States and Brazil, reported 69,921 new coronavirus infections on Tuesday, the lowest in six days.
According to evening updates, Maharashtra’s coronavirus case tally rose to 8,08,306 with 15,765 fresh cases reported on Tuesday. The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 1,98,523, and recovered cases at 5,84,537, respectively. The recovery rate in Maharashtra is 72.32 per cent, and the death toll is 24,903, said the state government on Tuesday.
Delhi reported 2,312 fresh coronavirus cases on Tuesday, the city’s highest single-day spike in nearly two months, said the authorities. At least 1,050 people were discharged, and 18 deaths were reported on Tuesday. The total number of cases stands at 1,77,060 including 1,56,728 recovered or discharged or migrated cases; total 15,870 active cases and 4,462 deaths so far.
Some 5,571 fresh coronavirus cases reported in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, tally 2,35,757, and active cases 55,538; toll reached 3,542 with 56 more deaths, said a health official.
