The Supreme Court (SC of Pakistan on Tuesday said it will hear the review petition filed by former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, seeking an extension to the 6-week bail granted to him on medical grounds.

Earlier in the day, Sharif told the SC that a review petition has been filed over its March 26 decision of granting him bail for six weeks. His bail will expire on May 7, reported local media.

His petition will be heard by a three-member bench headed by the Pakistan Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa.

Sharif, a three-time former PM, was jailed since December 2018 following his conviction in the Al-Azizia corruon case. He was sentenced to seven years in prison.

He was earlier granted bail by the top court last month, following which Sharif had submitted a review petition in the court seeking permanent bail.

The petition will be heard by a three-member bench of the Pakistan Supreme Court on Friday.
