Cyclone Fani leaves 14 dead in Bangladesh

Cyclone Fani has left 14 people dead after it left a trail of destruction across Odisha and West Bengal.

After the destruction it caused in Odisha, Cyclone Fani hit Bangladesh on Friday night, leaving 14 people dead.

A 45-year-old woman, Rani Begum, died after her house was ravaged in South Dighaldi Union of Bhola District Sadar.

At least four people were injured after a trawler was damaged. Another elderly woman from Char Algi village under Ramgati Upazila in Laxmipur district was crushed to death after her house caved in during the storm. A 12-year-old girl, Jhumur, was killed in Char Kakra union of Companiganj Upazila under Noakhali district.

An infant was killed and 30 others injured in Char Aminul Haque village of Char Wapda union in Subarna Char area. Shahrun Begum, 50, was killed after a tree branch fell on her.

At least six people including children were killed due to heavy rainfall and lightning in Mithamoin, Itna and Pakundia upazilas under Kishoreganj district on Friday. A 7-year-old child was killed by lightning in Mithamoin upazila.

Mohiuddin, 22, from Biramchar village of Boirati union of the upazila died after he was struck by lightning while he was working in a field. In Itna upazila, a farmer Rubel Das,26, was killed by lightning.

A farmer, Asad Miah, 45, was killed due to lightning during cutting grass in the field in Pakundia upazila. The incident took place Koshakanda village of Shikhia union Friday. Nurunnnahar , daughter of late Halimuddim from Char Algi and Mojibur Rahman,17, son of Innas Ali were killed also.

Another farmer Abdul Bareq, 35, died after he was struck by lightning in Madan upazila of Netrokona district.
